Leap Day brought random acts of kindness

Knoepfler Chevrolet as well as Chevrolet nationwide celebrated Leap Day on February 29th in a fun and inspiring way. Chevrolet is encouraging everyone to use the extra 24 hours given to do something nice for someone or, as they put it, to #DayItForward.

Locally, Knoepfler Chevrolet surprised the Fire Stations in Sioux City with a box of fresh donuts. The staff at the fire stations were very thankful and it showed through their various Twitter accounts:

"Station 8 enjoying the delicious kindness of a stranger! Thank you #DayItForward"
"Station 1 guys appreciating #DayItForward"
"Station 3 Probies get to experience (taste) the generosity today too #DayItForward"

At various restaurants, customers were surprised to get to the counter and find out their meals and drinks were paid for by Knoepfler Chevrolet. Owners of the restaurants said their customers were shocked and thrilled about the surprise. One owner said, "You made a lot of people happy today."

Nationally, Chevrolet teamed up with numerous celebrities to spread the love.

Kevin Spacey surprised a young, aspiring actor with a grant to help him continue his studies. Spacey also offered to help him get into some of the best drama schools.

Championship driver, Ron Fellows, surprised a well-deserving gentlemen with a trip around the track in a Z06 Chevy Corvette.

Chevrolet helped 9-nine-year-old "super hero" Super Ewan in his efforts to feed Detroit's homeless population.

Visit the Chevrolet Facebook Page for more stories and surprises.

So now its your turn. Take the added time and do something good for someone or for your community.

Buy the meal of the person behind you in the drive-up. Offer to carry out someone's groceries. Help out your neighbor with their yard work. Call your family members and tell them you love them. Go visit the elderly in a nursing home. Pick up the trash in your neighborhood. The opportunities go on and on. Let's not just stop at today, though. Spread kindness around today and every day.
